About

Welcome to ashi university!

OUR MISSION:

The American Society for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics is an international society of professionals dedicated to advancing the science, education, and application of immunogenetics and transplant immunology. ASHI University (ASHI-U) is the platform to advance ASHI’s educational part of the mission.

The ASHI-U curriculum is a valuable resource to technologists, directors-in-training, directors, clinicians, coordinators, educators, and aspiring laboratory inspectors in learning the topics of histocompatibility and immunogenetics.

As a Society, we embrace the opportunity to provide education to our members. The modules provide CEU awarded by American Board of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ABHI). Non-members can access ASHI-U and read modules for free and gain continuing education unit (CEU) credits for a nominal fee*. The educational modules also provide a foundation of knowledge for those aiming to take ABHI examinations for CHT, CHS, and Diplomate. In addition, ASHI members may participate more fully in the educational process by writing or reviewing content for ASHI-U as volunteers, and obtain CEU credits for their participation.

Please browse through the educational modules in the “Educational Offerings” Section. After completing a module, students are asked to complete a short survey so that ASHI can improve and refine their educational material.

OBJECTIVES:

1. Provide participants with a comprehensive update on a variety of topics related to the fields of immunogenetics, immunology, population genetics, histocompatibility and transplantation, regulations and standards; and

2. Provide participants with knowledge to understand the basics of an assay and to be able to troubleshoot and more critically assess the results of various laboratory assays including detection of clinically relevant antibodies, HLA and non-HLA typing, crossmatching, and assessment of donor chimerism.
